Hello,
I have an Asus P5QPL-AM motherboard with an Nvidia 660 GTX graphics card, and everything was working perfectly until yesterday, when the hard drive that my system booted from failed.
I then installed a brand new hard drive, installed Windows 7 on it (official and legal, I specify), and everything works fairly well except that my GPU is not recognized.
In Windows Device Manager, it doesn't appear.
I did some research online and apparently, I need to enable the PCI-Express port as the default graphics port from the BIOS by enabling the PEG/PCI option.
I couldn't find anything more specific about this, so this is where I need help:
I went to the Advanced menu -> chipset -> North bridge config -> Initiate graphic adapter set the option to PEG / PCI. But that doesn't work.
I have a completely black screen, no info, nothing, whether I plug my screen into the Nvidia GPU or into the motherboard's video chipset.
However, if I remove my graphics card, the chipset works.
In short: I need a helping hand please :) Thank you in advance
Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 52.0.2743.116

Hello, since everything was working before the hard drive change, there’s no reason to change any BIOS settings related to the graphics card. If I were you, here’s what I would do:
1) Reset the BIOS (clear CMOS) just in case there was a bug: remove the battery from the motherboard for a few seconds while the PC is off or move the jumper designated for this purpose.
2) Some BIOS from older motherboards like this one have trouble handling large capacity hard drives (>500 GB). This creates strange bugs. In this case, it needs to be updated.
My friends think I am a computer genius for always fixing their computers. Truthfully, I'm just really better at using Google than they are.
