Hello,
I wanted to add music to my USB drive with my new notebook (the old one has died), and it shows me this message: "the root of the drive has been formatted with the FAT file system and can only store a limited number of items. Store the items in a subfolder or format the drive again using the NTFS file system."
I can’t create a subfolder...
Can I format my USB drive without losing the data? If so, how...

Hello,
I would, instead of trying to format the USB drive, copy everything it contains to the PC, and then I would calmly format the drive.
Best regards

Good evening,
Reformatting means losing the data on the USB drive.
So, first, you need to copy the data from the drive to the computer.
Only then go to the disk manager, which is located in applications/utilities, and format the drive in NTFS format.
After this formatting, you can put your data back along with the other folders.
