Outstanding payment on Elite Rencontre

Hello,

I also fell for the annual subscription renewal.

I thought I could escape it with the obligation to inform three months before the renewal date, as stipulated by the Consumer Code, but they did send me an email to notify me.

In the meantime, I changed my credit card and they didn’t charge me and are asking me to update my bank details (like an idiot, I exchanged emails with customer service and told them I wouldn’t update since I hadn’t received an information email about the renewal... but I looked too quickly :/ )

That said, is there a real risk if I do not update my bank details for their next attempted charge?

The applicable law for this somewhat 'crappy' site is German law.. Not sure there's an obligation to notify about the renewal of the subscription that's ending.

The risk is very limited since the amount at stake is minimal and doesn't warrant a proceeding.. However, you may have to deal with the annoying solicitations from various collection agencies.. Let them scream until they get tired..

'Costs' only if there is a Procedure (Injunction to Pay) but unlikely for this amount.

Amplitude costs such as F = €100 to €250.

A kind of mathematical expectation has the formula:

E = (P1 x 120) - (P2 x F)

With P1 probability of inaction from the Creditor.
With P2 probability of Procedure

P1+P2 = 1

Numerical application: P1 = 90% (0.9), P2 = 10% (0.1), F = 250 (for example)

Then E = (120 x 0.9) - (250 x 0.1) = 83 largely positive.

There is therefore a reason - at least if one adopts the attitude of a player - to let them yell.

Hello. I find myself in the same situation. Really wanting to let it go. I'm exasperated by this site. Impossible to contact them. Inactive profile for over 10 weeks, reminder email from them. Meanwhile, my "subscription" is being renewed and finally, a collection agency is "inviting" me to settle my debt within 5 days. Feeling like sending 120 checks of €1. Or nothing at all. It drives me crazy. Tacit renewal should be banned. Thank you for your opinion, whether the collection agency really drops it.

The late Chatel Law (or rather what has been 'codified'...) only concerns sites under French law..

Between us, since the amount requested is 'modest', the probability of going to court is very low..

Responding only shows a certain 'interest' and risks inciting the collection (It's like a fish moving the fisherman's 'bobber' and causing an adrenaline rush..).

Silence is the best tactic to tire and discourage the rude collectors..
