press the 2 key for example

a message appears on the screen: Unassigned speed dial. Assign? Press OK. You will then be asked to enter the phone number.
you just need to search for it in your contacts list and select it.

There is simply one detail that escapes me:
When I press a key other than 1 (assigned to voicemail), the message "Empty entry!" appears at the bottom of the screen without the possibility of entering the desired number.
Do we have another option?

After pressing the 2 key, the 2 appears on the screen, then the call key, the message "Empty entry" appears at the bottom of the screen...
If I press options: the choices offered do not lead to the goal, namely:
Call
Send message
Contacts
Journal
If I choose "Contacts" I have the directory but that doesn't lead to anything for merging with the 2 key.
