    By opening your profile picture, below your name there's an image of the world to indicate that it is public ;)
    You can click on it, and it will open a list (public, friends, custom) click on more options, there will be "only me"
    People will only be able to see the picture, not the comments or likes :) (but you will still be able to see them)


    Disadvantage: They will only be able to see what is contained within the frame of the profile picture, for example, if you took a large group photo and cropped it to focus on you when you set the profile picture, they will only see you and not the rest :)
