Hello,

I might be mistaken, but I've always been told that you shouldn't keep your credit cards near a mobile phone. Is that true or just an urban legend?

Thanks ^^

Hello,

That's completely false; otherwise, there would be no point in NFC technology, as it would tend to destroy bank cards too much.

Furthermore, regarding NFC, there's another urban legend that claims one can easily retrieve data from a bank card.
False because:

- No one knows where your card is located (where your wallet is, whether the card is in your handbag, etc.)
- The visual cryptogram, necessary for using your card online or for mail order sales, is not stored or disclosed during an NFC transaction. So even if someone had your credit card number, that number would be useless because they wouldn't have the cryptogram, which is necessary for any mail order transaction.
