Hello,
Some time ago, when opening each of my Excel workbooks, the logo changed one after the other.
As seen in the screenshot.
From the (native Excel) logo on the left, I ended up with this logo on the right (which corresponds to an image from one of my workbooks).
It's not disturbing. However, if someone could tell me how this could have happened.
And possibly, how to restore the native icon, or display another one?
Thank you

Hello,
This change is perfectly normal.
However, if you want to change the icon, you just need to create a shortcut of the file in question, right-click it, scroll down to Properties, and click on: Change Icon...
However, do not delete the original file!

Hi Helpios
Well, it's not working for the icon change.
And how is that "perfectly normal"? I've been using Excel for years, and suddenly, in 2016, the icon changes magically :-).
Moreover, my idea is not to change the icon.
I was simply asking how the icon was able to change? And possibly, how to restore the Excel icon.
Thank you

Hello,
The icon may have changed due to a Windows update, or/and software updates.
However, I am unaware of the procedure to follow, aside from the creation of the shortcut.

Hello
for all intents and purposes, but without explanation
I had the same case in some files in the same folder, I eliminated it as follows
__open folder, right click on the page (without selecting a specific file)
__and a change in the display type by clicking on "view" and toggling between "content" and "list"
made the image in the icon disappear;
But this is without commitment or guarantee :-))
best regards

The quality of the response mainly depends on the clarity of the question, thank you!-
Hello Vaucluse
Well, it’s not working. But no guarantees :-).
Additionally, all these files in image icons are on the desktop and not in a folder.
Just three screenshots to show the strangeness of the "thing".
In the first screenshot, we notice that inside the folder (which I created for the occasion on the desktop), the icons appear as Excel icons. When I click on "content", they turn into images.
And then when I click on a file to drag it out of the folder (as seen in the screenshot), it immediately changes to an image icon.
In the 2nd screenshot, I inserted a Word file into the folder. However, we can see that it (even in continuous display) does not lose the Word icon.
And then in the 3rd screenshot, when I display in very large icons, the Excel files behave like photos, while the Word file retains its icon.
What strangeness.
Don’t worry too much, :-). I would have liked to know the why and how, but it doesn’t bother me.

Hello,
Have you cleaned your computer using the CCleaner software?

Hello Helpios
Ccleaner is a software that I have been using regularly for x years.
And for Mike, I tested it on the laptop, it's the same as on the desktop PC.
Here is a piece of modified documentation.

Re,
on my computer the icon is correct
what version do you have of Windows
otherwise, go to the root of drive C://
double click or right click and open on the drive/same on Users/same on the username you provided, the icon has a little padlock/same on AppData/same on Local/search at the end of the list for the file IconCache.db
delete without mistake this file IconCache.db
restart your computer

Hello everyone
I'm bringing this post back for another question.
What if I exposed this problem on the Windows forum??
It might come from the OS, who knows.

I don't think switching from the Excel forum to the Windows forum would be necessary.
The problem may come from Windows or the application.
Otherwise, you can contact Microsoft via online chat.
