Hello,

I would like to know how to connect a Sony Handycam Video 8 camcorder to a PC.
I bought a USB video capture device with integrated PowerDirector software in the kit.
The only problem is that I can connect the yellow plug and the white plug (I have sound with the latter)... I can't connect the red plug; there's no connection for it.
I have a connection on the camcorder "RFU DC Out," but of course, that's not included in the kit...
Thank you for your help, I have a lot of childhood memories to save :-)

Hello, if you don't have a red RCA connector, you simply won't get stereo sound.
If you have this 2.5mm minijack audio output, it might do the trick with a male minijack to female RCA adapter.

I have the sound that I hear on my PC, the problem is the image. I have nothing coming out. Is it the camcorder that is intentionally limited to not extract the video? It's an old camcorder.

I only have 4 connections: one for MIC (micro); a yellow one for VIDEO OUT; a small one for RFU DC OUT; and a black one for AUDIO OUT.

I would rather blame the capture device.
How is the connectivity of your camcorder in terms of video and audio?

Well, the yellow one is the video if the black "audio out" is a 3.5mm mini Jack, you would need this:

Then, I recommend the Dazzle capture device which includes editing software.
You can also find it second-hand on the web and sell it when you no longer need it.
There are exotic products like USB sticks and 4 wires for €12, cheaper but beware, they are often a source of hassle, judging by the messages from desperate members on the forum, and that seems to be happening to you

Super, thanks!!! I really think that could be it, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. And this adapter can connect to the computer then?

I specify that I bought the capture device at LIDL, it's the SILVERCREST brand.
