Hello,
The standard procedure indicated for resetting the Canon MP980 does not work. The 5B00 error persists.
- Two solutions:
Poor us! What a society!
I used the Canon_Service_Tool v1.50 and I see
Absorber: Main counter value: 0
Waiting liquid counter: counter value 0
So everything is at 0 and the 5B00 message still appears!
Does anyone have a solution?
Thank you for your help.
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 41.0

- Two solutions:
- Find a working procedure. Canon's solution is to throw the printer away and buy another one. It's a commercial way to renew their stock. And I especially love it; don't bother changing the absorber, it's highly toxic. I reminded them that there are rubber gloves, masks, and even asbestos removal suits on this planet.

- Another solution is to find the sponge, clean it, and put it back in place. But the question is, where is the sponge? Does anyone have an exploded diagram of this MP980 printer? Moreover, this will probably not remove the 5B00 error message.

Hello,
I think this discussion has been opened twice since it seems I've reacted to a similar issue.
Regarding the Reset procedure, have you downloaded the software in question?
Some sites detail the procedure:
