Set up an assassin's creed controller on PC

Hello,
I need your help!!!!
I bought the game Assassin's Creed I and II on PC, and I also got an Xbox controller compatible with my PC!
But the controller doesn’t work and I don’t know what to do anymore......
Let me explain:
I started the game without any issues! The controller was recognized by the game, so I could play with my Xbox controller..... then the drama
the game encountered a bug, I restarted the game without a problem! However, the controller was no longer recognized by the game! (When I'm in the game controls settings, it detects it but then automatically switches back to keyboard and mouse!!!)
I restarted the PC, tried connecting the controller to different USB ports, I even tried the controller on the second game, installed the Microsoft driver for the controller! NOTHING WORKS
HELP MEEEEEE! I want to play!!!!! ^^
Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 42.0.2311.135

I might have a solution, go to options> modify commands> press the controller button and click on the right arrow until it says "Controller XBOX 360 For Windows" instead of keyboard and mouse, then press the Y button on your controller or triangle for PS and map your buttons.
