Solved

Hello,

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 43.0.2357.132

Java cannot be installed on my computer due to error code 1603.
I have already tried cleaning with CCleaner, but there must still be files from a previous installation.

How can I remove them in order to install Java without this error code?

Thank you.

Hello,
  • Delete the "Java" folder (if it exists) in "C:\Program Files\" or "C:\Programmes\" depending on your version of Windows.
  • On CCleaner, did you delete the temporary files but also clean the registry?
  • Try reinstalling Java by downloading it from the link below.

I did all that, but I still get the same error during reinstallation:
"error: could not create the java virtual machine / error: a fatal exception has occurred. program will exit"

Are there any other options to explore?

Thank you for your help.

Here is the solution for this last error.
  • Open the start menu
  • Right-click on "Computer" -> "Properties"
  • Click on "Advanced system settings" in the left column
  • Click on "Environment Variables"
  • Click on "New"
  • Type as variable name: "_JAVA_OPTIONS" (without quotes)
  • Type as variable value: "-Xmx512M" (without quotes)
  • Click "OK"
  • Click "OK"
  • Click "OK"
  • Close the system information window

And that's it...
