Hello everyone
I was reinstalling my machine and I got the following message:
"THE SETUPDD.SYS FILE could not be loaded, the error code is 4"
I would like to know what I can do to fix my problem.
I would like to remind you that the hard drive works on another machine of the same brand, a Compaq.

Please help me
Thank you in advance

    Hi dklemzo!

I'm having the same problem right now and it's with 3 different installation CDs of XP..

I think it might be a defective RAM stick. I will run some more tests.

Indeed, as Boujouk said, you need to check your Live Memories carefully and that was the solution for me.

See this link for more information

Hey, I checked the RAM and it didn't work. Do you have any other solutions?
      Thanks in advance.

It's thanks to this forum that I solved this problem; when I did it, I wasn't satisfied; I had to change the position of my RAM sticks after cleaning them, and it worked.

      Hi
it’s probably your RAM. Take out your sticks and gently clean the contacts with an eraser, not like a maniac...
but it could also be a poor value assignment regarding memory transfer speed in the BIOS. Try cleaning the contacts first and come back here if it doesn’t work. We’ll check the BIOS then.
      Best regards
