Hello everyone
Actually, my question is simple.
I created a template with a mail merge without any issues, but the problem is that I can't activate the protection in my template because I can't check any boxes when I go to "Restrict Editing". Is this related to the mail merge? Should I create a template first and then do a mail merge from this template afterwards?
Thank you in advance for your answers.

Hello,
Indeed, mail merge and modification restrictions are not compatible.
By converting the template document back to a normal document (tab "Mailings", "Start Mail Merge", "Normal Word Document"), restrictions are available again, but you lose the merge.
Even when setting a password while saving the document with "Read-only" enforced, the file remains fully editable...
If you want to prevent modifications to the styles or the content of the body of the document, I can only see a macro capable of doing that.
But if you only want to protect the header/footer (logo, legal notices, etc.), you can create a group (tab "Developer", "Design Mode", "Group").

Hello C-Claire,
That's exactly what I thought. I reset my document to normal and indeed, the restrictions came back. As for macros, I'm not skilled enough to create such complex ones, so I'll leave it for now because I only want to protect certain parts of my document like the sender's address or the general body of text in particular.
Thank you for your insight anyway, I wish you a good end of the day.
