Prevent someone from seeing my story on Snapchat

Hello,
I want to make my story invisible to a few friends on Snapchat. I know I can select them, but when I check, am I selecting the ones I want to exclude or the ones I want to keep? It's not very clear.

    Hello,
    The friends you check are the people who will not have access to your story. I had the same problem, and I also find it really confusing!
