Hello everyone,
I just added a SD card to this device, when I connect it to the PC it is present.

However, I cannot find it on the GPS, I've looked everywhere and it's nowhere.
I need to perform some updates and would like them to install on this SD card, does anyone know how to proceed, please?
Thank you in advance for your potential responses.
Best regards.

Configuration: Windows 7 EFP 64bits
Firefox 37.0.2

Hello,

Not knowing this equipment, it is difficult for me to give you a hand.

Isn't it disproportionate? Does the GPS accept cards of this capacity? Can you try with a card of 4 GB max?

Hello nemrod18,
No worries, it's very nice of you to have replied already. If no one follows up in the next day or two, I'll make sure to contact Garmin directly.
Thank you for your interest in the question and take care.
See you later!

I wondered about this SD before ordering it, according to the specifications the GPS accepts this capacity.
It's not stupid to try with a lower capacity card, for now I don't have one but I'll consider it, thanks for the remark.
See you!

Good evening, "finding it on the GPS"? You won't see anything on the GPS, you will only have the future mapping updates that you will insert which will appear on your device, and you need to use Garmin Express to carry out these updates.

Good evening,
It's surprising that we can't choose between the GPS's internal memory and the added SD card!
Garmin Express indeed, that's already seen on that side, thank you.
See you later!

Indeed, with Tomtom you can choose between internal memory and the SD card. I have a France map in internal memory and a Europe map for 45 countries on the SD card, so I can choose which one I want depending on the legislation regarding speed cameras or other points of interest.

Hello nemrod18,
That's also how I saw the situation; I can't understand why adding an SD card makes it unrecognizable in the GPS. I must admit, that's completely beyond me!!!
For your information, I still haven't tried with a lower capacity card, but I'm like "the pit", skeptical!!

Some forums recommend a maximum of 4 GB.

I will conduct the test with a 4 GB SD card and will keep you updated on any potential improvement, but I really have my doubts!

Hello Massimo,
When I open Garmin Express to install updates, only the internal memory is displayed, and I have no option to select the SD card, hence my questions!
Here's what it indicates to me while the SD card is inserted.

So the question is, how do you choose where to place the update?

Try this, remove your SD card from your GPS, place it on your PC and rename it Garmin, then reinsert it back into your device.

Not yet, however, when I use Garmin BaseCamp, which is a general planner, this SD card is present.

Surprising all the same!

Basecamp will link the map to your device once the update is completed; otherwise, you know that you can directly install your mapping on your PC from Garmin Express and then select the regions that interest you on your device, thus avoiding the use of the SD card.

Hello massimo,
Indeed, I knew it but have never done it this way for updates, I will get to work on it now, thanks for the advice!
I don’t really have the opportunity to leave France by vehicle, except to Spain once or twice a year, I should logically save space by avoiding the installation of foreign languages and associated countries, normally.
I will leave a follow-up before marking this post as resolved, thank you for your collaboration.

Hello massimo,
Here I am again with a response from Garmin France that I’m adding to this message.
“The micro SD card will be taken into account during the installation of the map update by Garmin Express. In the device menu of Garmin Express, the information about memory only concerns the internal memory of the GPS without taking the micro SD card into account.”
I couldn't find a 4GB card, I placed an 8GB class 10 card, I'm currently attempting the update and having some issues.
Almost 7 hours for the download, not surprised as previous updates took nearly the same time, however, I cannot download all the files!
Three possibilities: downloading directly to the device, sharing between the device and the PC, or fully on the PC.
The first two don't seem to complete, for now, only downloading to the PC works.
Question: will I be able, from the PC, to install this update on the device? I've never done it this way!

Hello, yes since you have now installed your mapping on your PC, you just need to open Basecamp and select the maps you want to install on your device.
