Pdf creator is no longer printing...

Hello,
For several months, PDFcreator has stopped printing. I think this happened during the update from version 1.7.3 to version 2.0.0 which required me to install PDFArchitect.
Can we run PDFcreator without PDFArchitect today?

Hello,
Of course, PDF Creator does not need PDF Architect to function. You can completely remove it, especially since it is almost only free for viewing PDFs; if you want other options, they are paid, so the free version has very little interest. It's just a loss leader to make you pay for options.
I uninstalled it and PDF Creator works very well on its own. It's actually a great product that not only allows you to create PDFs but also enables you to extract distinct pages from a PDF, combine several PDFs into one, etc.

Thank you for this confirmation. I have used PDFCreator for many years; it was actually my default printer, and today I am having issues. When I try to print, the PDFCreator printer starts the printing process (the active printer icon appears in the taskbar at the bottom right), but the file is not created. When I check the print queue, the file is in the process of being printed. However, it remains in the printing status and the job never finishes. Yet, the active printer icon disappears after a while, but the file is never created.

Any suggestions?

I suggest you properly uninstall PDFCreator and reinstall it from this link:

making sure, as indicated in the presentation, to
"Remember to uncheck additional software during installation! [...] Go for advanced installation and uncheck: images2pdf, pdfArchitect, example.COM. Then on the SaveByClick software page click the 'Decline' button to skip this software."


Otherwise, you can reinstall the previous version from the official PDFCreator site, which addresses the issues...:
"If you should encounter problems with PDFCreator 2.0, you can still download PDFCreator 1.7.3"

Thank you for the tips, but it didn't yield anything interesting:
The installation of version 2.0.2 mentioned first doesn't work on my machine and I can't get past the profile configuration step, etc.
The installation of version 1.7.3 goes well, but the produced documents are blank pages. I tried with Word and Notepad.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you all for your help. I finally managed to get version 1.7.3 working correctly. It was generating PostScript files that were stored in read-only temporary folders where I didn't have access rights. I set everything to full control and unchecked the read-only box.
And it works again. I have a lot of issues with user profile and security problems.
