Soundbar/TV/Canal Connections. Issue Solved

Good evening,

I have a Philips TV 46PFL5537H
LG soundbar NB4540
Canal Plus TNT decoder (the black one with the shiny front).

I connected an HDMI cable from the Canal decoder to the soundbar (position "in")
then from the soundbar (position "out") to my TV on HDMI 2

When I do this, I have no sound and no image!
I read that I needed an optical cable..., I also read that I needed to set the HDMI on my TV to ARC, I tried but that didn't work

Does anyone have a solution? Maybe a compatibility issue?

Sure, it’s not really a problem ;-)

Here are the connections I suggest:

1) HDMI OUT DECODER <- HDMI CABLE -> HDMI 1 TV.

2) OPTICAL OUT TV <- OPTICAL CABLE -> OPTICAL IN SOUNDBAR.

With this connection setup, the sound from all the devices connected via HDMI to the TV will be transmitted to the soundbar.

As for the ARC function of your TV, with this soundbar, it serves no purpose, as this soundbar does not have HDMI ARC.

First of all, thank you for detailing the devices you own; it's rare for people to do so ;-)

However, could you please specify the exact model of the decoder? If possible, could you also take a clear photo of the back so I can see the connections and post it in your next response? Thank you ;-)

Thank you for your response, nice, but I found a pretty simple solution!

I'm keeping my current setup and I connected an optical cable between my TV and the soundbar, I turned off the TV sound and turned up the decoder's sound to the max.

As for your question Stargate43

Now I would like to know if this type of connection is optimal for sound, or if you know another setup. Because even though the sound is powerful, I was still expecting better for the price..

No, it's not the back.

However, I have an HDMI port, a VGA, and 2 SCART sockets.
As for audio:
Right --> red
Left --> white
Digital --> black
Y --> green
Pr --> red
Pb --> blue
