Hello,
I have a SAMSUNG TV and a THOMSON Fransat satellite receiver. I bought a SAMSUNG DVD player/recorder BD-H8500. The DVD player is unable to recognize and tune TV or Radio channels. I was told that it’s impossible (except with a PANASONIC player that takes video outputs). Before I throw away my DVD player, has anyone any solution?
Thank you.

    Good evening,

    First, I will give you the connections to follow:

    1) SATELLITE ANTENNA <- CABLE -> SAT INPUT OF RECEIVER.

    2) RECEIVER SAT OUTPUT <- CABLE -> INPUT " ANT IN " OF PLAYER/RECORDER.

    3) OUTPUT " ANT OUT (TO TV) " <- CABLE -> TV ANTENNA INPUT.

    4) RECEIVER HDMI OUTPUT <- CABLE HDMI -> HDMI 1 TV.

    5) PLAYER/RECORDER HDMI OUTPUT <- CABLE HDMI -> HDMI 2 TV.

    Back of player/recorder:

    Back of receiver:

    If these connections are made as described above, there should be no reason it wouldn’t work.

    Regards ;-)

      Hello,
      Thank you for your response, I followed your wiring and it still doesn’t work.
      The seller told me that my DVD player only receives channels from the antenna and not from satellites. Only a few CD/DVD players can acquire the satellite via a decoder.
      If that’s true, that hurts.
      Best regards

      It was simply a matter of choosing a dual-tuner recording demodulator Fransat (for example an Aston HD Xena Fransat) with two antenna inputs connected to a dual-output LNB + 2 separate cables. In this ad hoc configuration you can watch any channel and record any other at the same time on Eutelsat 5WA.. (promo: the OCS bouquet is in free access until 5 Jan 2015 via the Fransat card)

      Hello,
      Your seller is telling the truth .... :-( we should have bought a device with an audio/video input in order to be able to record the signal coming from the Fransat receiver...
