My HP PC won't turn on and its light is blinking. Solved

I have a BESTEC ATX-300-12Z, and there was a big storm in my area last night. I unplugged my computer for safety, but this morning when I tried to turn it back on, it was impossible, and I noticed a light blinking at the back. I took the computer apart to check the power supply; I thought it might be a fuse, but I don't see anything like that (I'm really not good with this kind of stuff...).

I came here looking for advice because I can’t find anything online.

PS: The computer is plugged into a surge protector, along with my Alice box, monitor, etc., and I only have this problem with my computer, since I'm currently working on another computer connected to the Alice box via Wi-Fi.Configuration: Windows XP

I searched online for a solution when I reconnected my PC and its LED started blinking. Apparently, this happens a lot with HP! The blinking LED indicates that the power supply has gone into safety shutdown mode.

The solution is surprisingly simple:

Without disassembling anything, use a hairdryer for 1 to 2 minutes through the fan grille of the power supply,
as soon as you reconnect the power:
Oh miracle: the LED no longer blinks!!

HP really needs to explain this to us…

Hello everyone, and thank you for your forum. I just encountered the same problem with my computer, so the power supply (Bestec bst atx 300-12Z-FCR) is dead. I have two questions for you. 1° Can I test it with another power supply to make sure nothing else has burned out, even if this power supply is only 150W? 2° If only the power supply is dead, what can I replace it with besides the same one, which doesn’t seem very good in terms of power supply quality? Hello everyone, the solution to the problem posed is as follows:
1) Unplug the power cable
2) Unplug the ribbon cable that powers the motherboard
3) Plug in and power on your PC now
4) Note: No blinking
5) Connect the ribbon cable to the motherboard
6) There you go, press and start your PC, it works normally.

The unfortunate thing is that when you come back the next day, you will have to go through the same process again.

Are there other effective solutions and explanations for the problem?

I confirm:
1- unplug the power supply
2- remove the battery
3- open the laptop
4- disconnect the keyboard (the ribbon cable connected to the motherboard)
5- reconnect the keyboard
6- reassemble the laptop
7- replace the battery
8- plug the power supply back in
9- start the laptop

All this because I didn't take the time to plug in the power cord when the PC indicated that my battery was low and that I needed to connect the power.
Result: the PC shuts down suddenly when the battery is empty and does not restart (service mode).

Hi everyone!
I have the same problem with the power indicator flashing and my PC won't start.
In my case, it appeared after I turned off my surge protector.
I managed to restart the PC by plugging it directly into the wall socket (no more surge protector for the PC).
I hope this solution works for you too.
