Hello,
For some time now, my television (LG32LE5310) has been having an issue with bdRip movies in 1080p and 720p in mp4 H.264, AAC format. It stops the films instantly before the end... I thought it was just beyond 2 hours, but no, on a 720p movie it cuts off directly at 1h20 and goes back to the menu of my USB stick. Some movies play, but they are rare... I can't figure out where the problem might come from given that for series or others there are no issues with 720p or 1080p in mkv or mp4...
Thanks in advance.

In fact, you are using FAT 32, so the files are split and cannot exceed 4GB. So if you have a HD movie, for example, it must be 6.5GB, you have a 4GB file and another 2.5GB, your TV reads the first one and does not "link" them together. If you had NTFS (which is paid with a Mac), you wouldn't have this issue anymore. Macs support exFAT, which is not limited to 4GB, but is not compatible with LG.
Long live Apple, compatible with ...... Nothing, and where you have to pay for everything.

Try using an external hard drive instead of a USB stick; it might be the USB stick that's failing.

Hello,
So this is a behavior that has been occurring for some time... We will need more information to determine where the issue might be coming from.
Have you made any recent changes or manipulations that could have caused this?
Is the transfer between the computer and the disk going smoothly?
I suggest you put one of those movies on another storage medium and play it to see if the problem persists. You could also try playing the movie on your computer and let us know if the same thing happens. Hopefully, this will help us determine if it's the disk's fault or not.
However, I would recommend getting your hard drive tested using the Data Lifeguard Diagnostic software (if you're on Windows) which will indicate the status of the disk. You can download it here: https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?DL
See you soon ;)

There have been no modifications or manipulations causing this issue; regarding the transfer between my Mac and the hard drive, there is no problem at all. I tried a movie that cut off before the end on my TV and played it on the SFR TV decoder, and it plays all the way to the end... could it be related to the TV? Or to my hard drive since it doesn't work on the decoder :-/
How did you transfer this film to your TV decoder? What storage medium was used?
It is very important to carry out the proposed tests to identify the issue.
First, play the film that is on the hard drive directly on your computer. Does the same problem occur?
Then, if you have another hard drive or a USB stick, put the film on it. Does it cut off before the end or not?
Test your disk on a Mac by launching Disk Utility. What are the results of the verification?

I transferred the film from the Mac to a basic USB stick (Duracel) that I then plugged into my decoder, and everything works. On my Mac with VLC, there's no issue playing the film with my USB stick.
This is what I tried using a USB stick and therefore something other than my WD My Passport HDD. I connected it to my TV, and it does the same thing; the film cuts off at the end.
That's for checking the WD HDD.

Just to make sure I understood correctly: So the movie also cuts off when you play it from your USB stick connected to the TV?
that's it :) I would say it comes from my TV, but for some movies it works... it's a complicated problem.
Hello stewartia, this has nothing to do with Fat 32 and the 4GB limit; movies in bdrip 1080p or 720p do not exceed 2GB. Furthermore, I have NTFS on my MacBook Pro and that doesn’t solve the problem at all. And it’s a reflection that won’t move the issue forward by saying that Apple is compatible with nothing, knowing that it’s false. Thank you for your comment nonetheless.
1080p and 720p bdrip that don't exceed 2 GB, what does that give, 30 minutes of video, or series downloaded from the net.
If Mac is compatible with something free, it would be known; your Mac doesn't even have a Blu-Ray player, I installed the latest Apple OS and there's nothing in it.
Switch to mkv if you have software for it.

I would like to reiterate that these are movies longer than 2 hours, so no series, please. If you don't have a solution, please stop bringing up the Mac, it's off-topic. I will try to convert my movies to mkv; maybe that will work.
I have 3 LG screens from 23" to 47" with USB ports, I've never encountered this problem. For the WD My Passport, you may have partitions created by the software or pre-installed.
Note that I was with SFR and I once connected a USB 3.0 to the "pseudo" Evolution, which crashed.
The best would be to have a separate 2.5" WD, Seagate, or Hitachi HDD with an external case like Advance since they consume little. Otherwise, use a powered 3.5" HDD. NTFS is better, plus you can also format a USB key in this format.
As for Apple, I don't care much; their slogan, "the apple for them, the pear for you," is in Guignol's and it's quite true. I know both systems (Windows). In the end, I think Android is going to win.
A good multimedia box is, in my opinion and from experience, the best solution.
You have a choice.

Hello everyone,
I have the same issue with the film cutting off before the end, even though it's not longer than 2 hours... I found a workaround, I "re-encode" it with free avi video converter. When I restart the film, it plays through to the end! I still don't know why this problem exists, but it can be worked around.
Have a good day

So that means the problem does not come from the hard drive. At some point, the TV can no longer read the file.
I would recommend updating the TV, that could solve the issue.
You can download the TV manual here: https://www.lg.com/fr/support/produit/lg-32LE5310 You will find a chapter on Software Update that will help you with this process. If that doesn't yield any results, I would suggest contacting LG support.
Good luck!

Hello, I also had the same issue with multiple movies, and after turning the problem over in every way (it was long!), I finally found the (or a) SOLUTION! The playback issue comes from the Mp4 format on the television (especially if it’s an older model) from a USB stick (why? how? no idea, the solution is all that matters to me…). So the trick is to convert the file to MKV, and after testing it on several unfinished films, the interruptions just before the end are finally over, so you won't be left wanting...
