Connect your printer and computer together and turn them on. Place the document to be scanned under the printer lid (scan side down) in the bottom right corner.
Start the scanning task using the Printing Software. Depending on your
operating system, perform one of the following actions to open the Printing
Software:
? Windows 8: On the Start screen, right-click on an empty area of the screen, click on All apps on the app bar, then click on the icon named after the printer.
? Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP: On the computer desktop, click on
Start, select All Programs, click on HP, then on HP Deskjet Series
2540, and finally on HP Deskjet Series 2540.
In the Printing Software, select the Print and scan tab, then select
Scan a document or photo from Scan. You will see the scanning options
that you can select on the screen.
