I purchased a HP Scanjet G4050 scanner a few years ago, which I installed with the software provided by HP using Windows Professional XP. After upgrading to Windows 7, the scanner is no longer recognized. I receive a message saying: this software cannot be installed with the run as command...
I tried to download installation software. The response involves a series of operations bordering on harassment like cleaner, backup, etc., or directs me to the forum, where I'm told to subscribe first (which I did). I'm waiting for any easy help that only requires updating the software I own, which worked very well with the previous versions of Windows. Thank you in advance.

If your scanner is currently connected, disconnect it and restart your computer.
Download and save The full version of Scanjet G4050 drivers/software.
Install it and then connect your scanner when instructed to do so.
