I say what I saw: junk, (quite a bit of waste they say) on Santis products, Modem-Router-Wifi and Wifi-USB equipment put back on sale in resealed boxes without, most probably returned by a previous buyer, outdated technology (11mb/s) sold to an unsuspecting public with huge 13-meter banners on every street corner and all boxes on glossy paper, a Wifi range greatly overestimated (it doesn't even go through two floors), an installation that does not respond directly as promised in the documents provided, and a complete lack of clear and precise support sites either at Belgacom-Skynet or Siemens. All that is left for us is to call a long time on a premium number, which quickly doubles the purchase price of the equipment, it's absurd!

The Firewall part of Santis is left abandoned, yet it is very powerful, but no one is smart enough to mention it, talk about it, explain it, or implement it.

The skill level of the salespeople has been raised for three months. I suppose they have received additional training. Indeed, during each of my visits to various telecom shops in Brussels, the responses have become increasingly comprehensive, for example regarding the range and the cap of 4 clients per router.
Never has a salesperson mentioned alternative solutions or competition. The salespeople must remain unaware of the very existence of 54Mbps or routers that accept 254 IPs.
These guys can't be too smart, otherwise they would themselves be disappointed with their nice job where they are forced to lie by omission to the public. Knowing just a little, just enough, and repeating the limits of the contract to cover their backs.
It must be said that the complaint rate matches the Belgian enthusiasm for this product given the extremely low level of technical competence among the civilian population, which has reluctantly succumbed to the trend of chatting between schoolgirls, online flirting, virtual extramarital affairs, and fraudulent peer-to-peer, far from the catchy slogans of teleworking in the 21st century, which probably does not reach one percent of the employee mass.

New feature:
the fixed flat fee (Misterlagaffe, please correct me if I'm wrong, is it 137 or 173 euros) for the visit of an installer who can fix everything.
It's good, unless there are surcharges for this or that, taking advantage of an autoexec, a virus or antivirus, or a call to windowsupdate... I haven't heard feedback from this clientele, but my dear Lagaffe, please tell us about this service, are these people better trained, what is the average duration of their interventions, how many visits per day do they make on average, what is the extent of the demand for Belgium? Are they reliable enough to let them into our homes and touch our PCs?

But they still don't talk enough about the need to protect oneself with WEP keys which, as we know, are too weak (see for example the 3rd sw on http://www.tnk-bootblock.co.uk/prods/misc/index.php)

Hi,
No matter where I work, it's not Payroll Belgacom... I'm expressing what I observe, and it's like that everywhere...
Criticizing is easy, but when it comes to solving a problem, it's easy to find a scapegoat.
I remind you that in November, Belgacom made an offer for free installation at the customer's location.
Once again, we only provide support for the ADSL installation and its connection; we do not provide support for any options that the manufacturers add afterward.
You sign up for an internet connection, not to set up a network of more than 4 PCs...
This is clearly explained in your contract. You can call other so-called "call center" services, and you'll quickly understand that it’s not easy to help people from a distance without anything in front of you. It's like walking in the dark with a blindfold...
(I know this is an exaggeration, but it's to help you understand)
To answer the question about prices, it varies, so it's impossible for me to give a specific figure.
Have a good day,

Thank you for your feedback, I completely understand the distress of the guys in support behind the hotline, and I empathize.

Hi,
I was on cable and now I'm on ADSL with the Siemens Santis.
I didn't have any major issues connecting to the internet, but here's the thing... I can't connect to the mule anymore. I can't connect to a server and on Kademlia, I'm connected but behind a firewall even though the Santis firewall is disabled and so is the Windows one. I'm going crazy... Please help me.
On that note, best wishes to everyone :-)

It's a port forwarding problem to be declared in the router.
But that's not CCM's concern, do your research on the forums of your P2P program instead!

Hello everyone,
I'm using the Siemens Santis 50 modem/router like many other people apparently, given the number of messages left on this forum... I realize the mediocre quality of this equipment and I honestly feel lucky not to have encountered any problems up to now (no connection issues, radio signal even through two rooms and a corridor, and several PCs simultaneously), phew, knock on wood, I must have gotten a good one... In any case, I hope everyone will eventually solve their little problems and I wish you all good luck...
But, and unfortunately there's a but, I would like to use the Teamspeak software that allows multiple people to talk simultaneously on a server. So I create my server, it appears in the list of available servers, but no one can connect to it... After consulting numerous forums related to Teamspeak, I conclude that it’s my router, a certain IP address and WAN IP, and the need to open a port. So I go back to the address 192.168..... can’t remember exactly, I enter advanced configuration, so far no problem, but I’m not quite sure what to do now: Can I change my LAN and WAN IP? without risking losing my internet connection or preventing access to my router from other computers? I would also like to open certain UDP ports (8767, 14534, 51234) while making sure not to create a mess... On the Belgacom website, which is linked on this forum, I saw that I had to directly request Belgacom to open the desired port by sending an email. Is this really necessary? Is there no way to configure the router directly?
Thank you in advance, have a good day.

Yes, you’ve come across a good number, that’s good, Belgacom must have tightened things up by asking for additional quality control, probably. Then the store staff underwent training. The drivers provided work well under Windows XP but sometimes the software doesn’t match what is stated in the manual, and the channel and WEB encryption systems are a source of problems for most people, leaving the system open and unprotected.
It’s not Belgacom that opens ports 8767... It’s your Santis router that receives them all by default, as it needs to be configured to create a routing service to one of the PCs on the LAN. This means you need to go to the Santis configuration page and set up a service by associating an incoming port number and a LAN IP address, just like with all routers in the world, my dear loulou.
Hey, you could also try Skype (http://www.skype.com ) instead of TeamSpeak, it’s free and goes effortlessly through all firewalls with audio quality superior to Messenger, (thanks Colette), also check out http://www2.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-408931-skype
