Changing the nib of a fountain pen...

Hello there!
Recently, I bought a beautiful pen holder made from a goose feather, but with a claw system, like in this image: http://www.le-nouvel-encrier.com/BanqueImage/ModeOperatoire/15_6.jpg

However, this is the first time I’m dealing with a system like this, and I can’t figure out how to remove the feather... Does anyone know how I should go about it? I was told to just pull it out, but I can’t seem to do it, and I must admit I’m afraid of forcing it and damaging the feather or the pen holder...

    Normally there is either some kind of handle or, as you would say in your example, a ring to pull with your nail.

    You need to pull the ring around the wooden handle with your nail (see image below).

    If you don't have a nail, use a knife or a flat screwdriver (be careful not to cut yourself).

    Otherwise, ask your father or grandfather to show you, they should know how to do it ;-)
