Is my graphics card dead? My screen turns off by itself.

We should try another graphics card on the PC and see if the current one is the cause of the problem or if it's the motherboard port.
It's likely that your graphics card is damaged.
But have you tried updating your graphics card driver?

Yes, I tried to update the driver... in vain.

As for my graphics card, I have no graphical bugs when I launch a game,

is it possible that it's still nearing the end of its life? If so,

that would be silly because it might be an old gaming card, but it works so

well :p. I will test a new graphics card in a few days and I'll let you know how it goes, anyway thanks for responding.

You need to check your PC's configuration, as the GTX 280 is already old and likely the rest of the PC is too.
And if your hardware configuration is too weak, your PC will shut down from time to time.
You also need to monitor your temperatures >> (HWMonitor) because if you have overheating issues, the PC will go into protection mode.

2 GB of RAM (original office)

Motherboard from Acer el1850

670w power supply, I can't remember the brand, I’ll let you know.

The thing is, I was playing with this card for about 5 months, it

worked very well until I installed a new game, and then POUF, the screen

started to turn off.

Your game requires a more powerful PC hardware configuration.
So your graphics card is not powerful enough for this game.

I uninstalled it right away but it keeps happening... with other games like League of

Legends, Neverwinter, etc.... I think I'm going to get a new graphics card

or maybe if I change the thermal paste

that could be the issue too, right?

Well, you can try the thermal paste, but I don't think it will change anything.
Can you give the brand and model of this PC or its hardware configuration?

So, I took everything from my Acer EL 1850 to put into a bigger case

to have more space because the GTX 280 is quite bulky when it comes to hardware

I already wrote to you about this above. My OS is Windows 7 Pro (64bit).

I also thought, maybe I have a virus in Windows that affects the

graphics card because, as I was saying, an aging graphics card

often has graphical issues and mine doesn’t have any bugs, not even a

glitch on the screen, that’s why I find it strange that it could be

dying.

The cut can come from several factors.
You may have a power issue (cutouts) which affects the GPU.
Or it could also come from your PC/screen cable or defective connectors.
It can also come from faulty RAM sticks.
Manually check your RAM sticks, remove one stick and insert another, and try each one in turn if you have several.
See if any are defective.

So, regarding my power supply, it's a "HIPER 670 Watts"

I believe the brand no longer exists. I plugged it into the original chipset...

It doesn't crash, but I occasionally have graphical glitches. Maybe my

motherboard is starting to fail; I admit I'm pretty bummed out.

My GTX 280 is old, but not for me lol; I’ve barely had it for 6 months

I checked a lot of forums where people had the same issue and

some say it might be defective RAM, the motherboard that is

wearing out... etc... a lot of hypotheses, but I only have one stick

of memory to test, so it's hard to run a test :s

These are the only lines I saw regarding temperatures, 31° and 23° for the

processor I personally find that nothing.

You don't get all the temperatures of the hardware in HWMonitor.
But your PC is already old and it's low-end, so it's normal for it to start getting tired sooner or later.
Just because the PC worked well some time ago doesn't mean it will last forever.
And your Windows 7 64 Bits alone needs 2 GB of RAM, not counting the rest!
So with only 2 GB of RAM, the problem could come from there.
