Stacked Histogram

Solved
Hello;
I would like to create a stacked bar chart with one bar stacked on two levels, the next one just a bar, and the third one stacked on two levels.
Is it possible?

If so, I would like to learn how to do it so that I can apply it to other documents.
Attached is my file with a "handmade" example!!!

Thank you in advance.

Configuration: Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) / Firefox 27.0

  1. Hello,
    I was able to see!
    Try to build the same thing without lines 52, 56, 60, 64, 68, 72, 76.
You need to properly plot each series with a secondary axis and display the secondary x-axis. The secondary x-axis should not be removed.
I will be back before the end of the day.

    1. This new example provides some indications without repeating the detailed explanations found on the "vertical" sheet of the file linked to #1.

The comparison of the 2 sheets clearly shows the role of the empty rows.

      Good luck.

      1. Hello,
I am not familiar with the issues related to Excel versions for Mac.
If someone on the forum can provide information, they are welcome.

"Is it possible to "glue" the bars together on the weeks, for example on week 12, but not between 12 and 13?"
To glue the bars together, simply set the gap width to 0.
To have a space between the weeks, you need an empty row in the table or a null series.
In my last file on the "Expl1" sheet, see what happens when you delete a row:
Right-click on row 18 delete >> look at the charts below >> Ctrl+z to undo.
        Feel free to ask questions.

        1. Hello,

I followed your file to the letter but I can't seem to "stick" my three bars of the histogram per week, they are all "separated". What should I do?

          Thank you in advance.

            1. Hello,

Yes, I’m doing fine, but I’ve been stressing a bit over the graphs lately!

That could be it, but in that case, my first bar "touches" my X-axis! (I’m very much a perfectionist...) and regarding the weeks, I should have Week 13 with three bars, Week 14 with two bars because I don’t have three yet, and so on....

If I take Tontong's file and put my data in it, I get my graph, but I’m not learning how to do it... I want to succeed with help but by doing it myself....

              1. Feel free to ask for details, let me know at which step you're stuck; but I can only respond in xl2003 format.

            2. Hello,
I couldn't open the file of #2, the rain must have diluted a neuron or two.
Yes michel_m, we can intervene on the interval width, but to eliminate the gap between the stacked column groups, we need to remove the empty rows in the table that is used to construct the graph.

                3. When I do it in xlsx, all my data disappears...

                4. Maybe because of the formulas or links that help establish the table that serves as the basis for the graph?

              2. Hello,

I have looked at your file inside out and I still can't get the same result as you!!!

In your last attached file, you used my data but I still end up with a completely different result than yours... could it be my version (Excel 2000 (professional) or 2008 (personal))?

Is it possible to "stick" the bars together on the weeks, for example on week 12, but not between 12 and 13?

                1. I’m not really sure how I did it, but I managed to create my stacked histogram and I even managed to include a curve!

A big thank you for the advice...
