It all depends on the film.
Vague answer, but it's hard to provide another one.
It can range from a few months for a small "French-style" production to several years (even up to a decade) for a huge thing like The Lord of the Rings.
You need to consider the pre-production time (casting, location scouting, set design, models, special effects upfront, script creation, storyboards, costumes, etc.).
Then there's the production (essentially the shooting, which can take anywhere from a few days to a few months depending on the film) and post-production (editing, retouching, adding digital effects, etc.).
