Limited connection Windows 8.1

Question

Hello,

I am currently experiencing network connection issues on my new PC (it's been 1 week)

Everything was going smoothly in the best of worlds, my box is connected via ethernet to my tower, perfect speed, etc.

And then catastrophe struck, sometimes my connection changes to "limited connection" for no apparent reason... I have to either unplug and replug the RJ45 or reboot the PC, and the connection comes back for 5 minutes or for a whole day oO

I did some research, and apparently, it might be due to Win8.1?
I updated the drivers for my network card, which is a Killer E2200 gigabit ethernet controller, and the same issue persists.

Your antivirus or firewall may also be blocking your connection.

I searched on the NET and found a solution, not very practical I admit, but it has solved the problem for several people so far... all you have to do is:
Network and Sharing Center
Change adapter settings in the left menu and disable all network connections except for the Wi-Fi card of course and Bluetooth or Ethernet if you are using an RJ45 cable...

I tried the fixed IP technique and I'm still having the same issue, it switches to limited connection. I unplug and replug the RJ45 and the connection is valid again.

Apparently, the Ethernet card I have is the source of many problems on W8....

Hi  Check the power options of your network cards in the Device Manager === network card  And in the general power options of the PC  (redundant options)

In the power management section in the properties of my network card via the device manager, I have the first two boxes checked, namely:
-allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
-allow this device to wake the computer from sleep mode

Hello,

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager > Network Adapters > right-click on the Wi-Fi card and then click on Uninstall and restart the PC (the driver will reinstall upon restart, you don't have to do anything).

It worked on my laptop.

Uninstall the drivers in the settings interface and then restart; it works for my laptops (I have 2 that have Wi-Fi connection issues).  Thanks a lot Maxamax!!!!

Hello

1- First, check your modem router. In the LAN section, you need to increase the range of IP addresses. For example, you can set 192.168.1.1 as your gateway and start your LAN at 192.168.1.2 and end at 192.168.1.254. SAVE AND RESTART THE MODEM

2- Right-click on the icon of your connection, click properties, then on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), click properties, choose the options
- Obtain an IP address automatically
- Obtain DNS server addresses automatically
click OK, click OK

3- Right-click on the icon of your connection, click disable
4- Right-click on the icon of your connection, click enable
