Samsung TV making a buzzing sound

Hello,
I have a 6-year-old Samsung TV now (26-inch LCD).
It has been emitting a loud humming noise for the past 2 weeks (the longer it stays on, the louder the humming gets).
However, when I connect my MacBook using the mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, it stops humming, so it's probably not a cable issue or an HDMI source (the TV has 2 HDMI ports).
Does anyone know what this could be?

    I think it's a computer component that is starting to give out.

    When the component heats up, it whistles apparently.

    I think it's time to change the TV or contact Samsung support for information.
