Good evening,
I am currently using Android 4.0.4, with Virgin Mobile as my operator, and there is an "R" on the network bar instead of 3G or EDGE. I would like to know if there is a trick to remove this infamous "R."
Sincerely.

Hello,
R means you are roaming. You are therefore not on the Virgin Mobile network but on another network. I think it's Orange for Virgin Mobile. Roaming is free when you remain in France.
On the other hand, you can't do anything, because if you see this, it means there is no Virgin network where you are, so it's their partnership with Orange that takes over.
