"R" Problem - Cellular Network

Question

Hello, I'm new to this site.
Here's my problem, I just received my new smartphone (Honor 6x, Android 7.0) along with a Nano Sim (I was previously on Micro Sim).

My problem is that when I activate my cellular network, after a certain time, the 4g, H, or E network switches to R, and I then have to restart my phone to get back to a normal network. However, when I have this R, I have no internet connection.

I read on some forums that this was due to a change of server or operator (correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm not very knowledgeable about this). They also mention enabling mobile data while roaming, however, when I enable that, it shows 4g+R for example.

How can I resolve this issue?

PS: I live in the Grand Est region but quite far from the borders with Germany, Luxembourg, etc.

The problem is that it shows R while I am not roaming and a message is displayed (see attachment). However, I will try your technique.

Hello

No, R means roaming, which is itinerancy in French. It means if you change countries or switch, for example, from Free to Orange for 3G or 4G... then you switch to roaming. Try going to settings, then networks, and see what operator it finds and confirm it to check, then restart your phone. If necessary, configure your APNs accordingly.

So if it's Free, it's probably normal that you are roaming on the Orange network because there may not be a Free antenna nearby where you are, and so it is searching and connecting to the best network available. Therefore, you don't have to do anything; just wait for Free to install additional antennas, which they have been doing and speeding up for the past two years.

However, it didn't do this on my old phone and therefore on my microSIM, and the person who lives with me doesn't have this problem at all and even has a good connection (H)..

So try to set the APN yourself and not leave it on automatic, and disable the roaming to see... but know that no phone catches the same signal in the same place... I myself have a Note 4 and I get good 4G SFR signal at home while others only get H or sometimes just 3G... the same goes for a car radio that picks up a station poorly depending on your model, while your friend with a different model would have no problem... so when making a comparison, you take the same models, operators, and even the same location... find your manual on the Honor website and read it.

YOUR MANUAL is just so you know and better use your Honor.. that's all..

your photo doesn't show me anything that might be useful... to know that you are on Wi-Fi and that your mobile data network is still on... so turn off your Wi-Fi... then go back to your home page and swipe down so I can see your full status bar... this problem was known on Honor devices but apparently was fixed by the new EMUI version, which is Honor's overlay, unless the latest EMUI version under Nougat Android 7 has started to have issues again... but I can't find any information at all on that.

then go back to settings, then network, and perform a test by setting it to 3G only instead of 2-3-4G AUTO.

No, that's not what I'm asking you. I can see that you've disabled the Wi-Fi... I want to see the bar at the top where you can see the battery status, the network like 3G or 4G, and the R, so in normal screen mode... THEN, have you set your network to 3G ONLY to see...
