Insert page numbers over an image (Word)

Hello,

I created a document written in Word 2007. I inserted an image as a background on all the pages of the document in question (not as a watermark since the images are different). The problem I am facing now is that I can't display the page numbers.
I checked, the page numbers are below the background images. Is it possible to make the page numbers appear above?

maybe with a 'field code', possibly in a text box so it can be moved:

Insert
field code
click in the input area
then select the PAGE field from the list.

But
it needs to be placed on every page.

If it's in a 'text box', the text box can be made transparent with the 'Format Text Box' command.
