Hello,

An alert message* appears as soon as the PC is opened. I am therefore concerned that Bitdefender may not be functioning properly. Another message also appears when hovering over the Bitdefender icon in the toolbar (message: Some BitDefender modules are disabled).
HijackThis also reports a problem in this area;
O23 - Service: BitDefender Virus Shield (VSSERV) - SOFTWIN S.R.L. - C:\Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender10\vsserv.exe

*Message:
Buffer overrun detected!

Program: C:\Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender10\vsserv.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state.
The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated

What should be done?

Thank you very much for your help.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.3

Hello,

BitDefender contacted me and said that a new (important) update may have compromised the BitDefender software.
The solution is to uninstall BitDefender and then reinstall it.
Here is the email they sent me.

On the evening of April 4th, an important update for Bitdefender took place, it
is possible that it didn't go well on your system. Therefore, we will proceed with a complete reinstallation of BitDefender.

1. Go to the "Windows Control Panel" then to
"Add/Remove Programs", then select BitDefender and click
on the "Uninstall" button.

Important: If the uninstallation through "Add/Remove Programs" does not
work, disregard that and proceed to the next step.

Restart your computer.

2. Download the file available (bitdefender_uninstall_tool.exe) at the link below, choose to save it on the desktop:
https://www.bitdefender.com/uninstall/

Once saved on the desktop, run the downloaded file.
Once launched, click on the Uninstall button, and at the end of the cleanup operations (in front of Current Status, it should not say please wait or performing...), you will click on the Reboot button to restart.

3. Restart your computer again.

4. Then reinstall BitDefender by choosing "typical installation".

During the installation, you will be asked to register the product, do not do it, choose to continue the evaluation, and then skip the online registration step (you have probably already done that).

After Windows restarts, a Windows balloon information may pop up informing you that BitDefender is in evaluation, choose 'continue'. Finally, open BitDefender, click on the Update tab and trigger an update manually.

Once the update is complete, open BitDefender, click on the General tab then on the Register tab and click on 'Enter new key' to enter your activation code.

If the problem persists and the error occurs again, please resend us the files below so that we can forward them to the developers:

1) The sysdump.tar file (and/or sysdump.html and/or sysdump.txt).
To obtain this item, you will need to download it on your desktop and then run the file available at the link below:
ftp://ftp.editions-profil.fr/support/sysdump.exe

2) The bdfileinfo file that is obtained by running the program
downloadable at the following address (save this file on your desktop and then run it):
ftp://ftp.editions-profil.fr/support/BitDefender9/FileInfo.exe

3) A screenshot of the encountered malfunctions or the error message.

I hope this will solve your problem.

Good luck ;o)

It worked for me except that I entered my activation key the first time. It's working. I updated and it's all good. Thank you.
