Headphones => Sound cuts out when volume is low

Hello,
Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 28.0.1500.95
Following the wear and tear of my previous headset, I bought this one:

However, I have an extremely annoying issue;
A simple example: I’m watching a movie on my computer, headset on my ears, during a mundane dialogue, you can also hear background sounds like birds, very faint in the background, normal.
The problem is, between two phrases of dialogue, during the time, short or long, when we are just supposed to hear the birds chirping, the headset cuts off, and it does this whenever the sound isn’t loud enough for its liking, resulting in a movie with no ambient sound other than the loud and noisy sounds like dialogue or ambient music, intense scenes, just dreadful, impossible to immerse in the movie, not to mention a slight noise when it cuts off and restarts, like I’m tapping a little toothpick into my mic, negligible until it starts to annoy you.
Basically, the sensitivity of my headset (not the mic!) is defective or misadjusted, it’s new, cost me quite a bit, and I’d like to know if I should complain or if I messed something up.
There was no CD to guide me, the little manual doesn’t mention anything, and I couldn’t find anything on Google (Everything leads me to mic problems which I don’t care about) or through personal research, and believe me, I really tried... :(

SOLUTION FOUND (finally).
I rummaged through my settings, taking every detail into account. I deduced that:
You need to right-click on the volume icon to the right of the Windows taskbar / Playback Devices / Turtle Beach Speakers -> right-click / Properties / Enhancements -> uncheck "Disable all enhancements" -> check "Bass Management", "Virtual Surround" and "Loudness Equalization" / OK / OK.
And there you go! After millions of forums with no answers, IT'S HERE!
I hope this is really what fixes the issue, because it worked for me!
