I'm trying to set up Outlook (Office 2007 version) to receive my messages at the address xxx@live.fr.

I have entered all the parameters correctly:
Pop: pop3.live.com (port 995 SSL)
Smtp: smtp.live.com (25 SSL)
Username: *******@live.fr (the account address)
Email password

In advanced settings, selected "Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication;
and "use the same settings as incoming server"
SSL for POP3 and SMTP.

When I test the settings:
- Incoming server connection = OK
- But sending test message = NOK with error message:
Sending test message from the email: Outlook cannot connect to the outgoing mail server (SMTP). If this message reappears, contact the server administrator or your Internet service provider.

Can you help me? What am I missing?
Thank you in advance.

Hello Dexterccm and thank you for the reply.
The error number is 0x80042109.
I went to the website, but didn't find much.

Actually, I have set up my address xxx@live.fr despite the error message: I can receive in Outlook the messages sent to this address, but I can't send from Outlook with this address.

I have another email address from my ISP, and Outlook works both ways for that one.

So I suppose it's a problem between Outlook and the server (SMTP) or in the configuration of this address in Outlook, but I can't figure out what.
Thank you.

Another address from the same ISP for the same account? We are then talking about Alias, which are somewhat secondary addresses but are configured like the main address. By this I mean that it is not really a different account.

Unless it is indeed a distinct address that appears in the MANAGEMENT of your ISP’s accounts (not alias addresses). In that case, yes, the account is a real separate address with its own account and a different password.

In fact, the other address was xxx@sfr.fr (my ISP) and it works fine in Outlook, as do other sfr addresses.
I was trying to add my address xxx@live.fr to Outlook 2007 and I was able to receive emails with pop3.live.com (port 995 SSL) but not to send using smtp.live.com (port 25 SSL).

Maintenance is fine, it works but with smtp.live.com and SSL port 587 (and not 25) as indicated by malko61 in this link:
https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-7136058-pop-et-smtp-pour-live-fr#q=smtp+live.fr&cur=1&url=%2F
but by selecting "encryption method = "automatic" and not TSL as indicated by malko.

So, a heads up to others, if SSL 25 doesn’t work, try SSL 587 and "Automatic" encrypted connection.

Otherwise, thanks to everyone and to malko61.
