Samsung TV issues: red LED, black screen

It seems that a power outage (very common in our area) caused damage, which is why I’m looking into the power supply.

Yes, I think it's a good direction, for lack of better.

That said, there are three fuses on these boards... They need to be checked, that's the least before ordering a power board.... And also to inspect it closely, to see if there's anything burnt, melted, or exploded..

For me, it's the return of current and not the cut that causes this.

There are two fuses seen in the photo... I mentioned three because mine had three, but it's not exactly the same... We need to have the reference written on the board to be sure.

The high voltage power supply no longer exists on flat screen TVs; it was specific to cathode-ray screens.

You could also check the diodes. There's also a large 5-ohm resistor that acts as a fuse.

Indeed, the diode that lights up... It means that part of the power supply works... But still, the circuits are so designed and the schematics impossible to obtain that it's hard to have a logical reasoning... That's also why it's better to change the board to avoid running into other risks.

I can't see your photo on the specified site, I have the impression that you can't see it unless you're registered... That's not cool..

Anyway... Unless the fuses or a very visible gunshot, don't expect to repair the power supply board.. Nor any other one for that matter.
1° You will have a hard time finding components individually
2° It's sometimes very delicate to repair since it's so small
3° If you have the right tools.

That said, I've repaired many Samsung LED TVs... But I changed the entire power board.
You need to read the board carefully, you should find reference numbers specific to the power board... Then you search on Google, you should find pictures and recognize the part.
Then, go on eBay and search with exactly that reference.. you can find refurbished ones guaranteed (cheaper) in England, costing between 50 to 100 euros.

But nothing guarantees that the failure comes from there... It would be good to know what the conditions were that led to it being thrown in the trash... What was the initial failure... What happened... Storm, voltage spike, etc... It's fine for the power supply

But if it's about flooding or the little one who spilled his soda on it.. That's less certain...

That's my opinion... But I must say that with nothing or almost nothing, it's not easy to give an opinion worthy of interest.

Okay, thanks for the photo, it's becoming clearer... This is indeed a reference: PD37AF0E_ZDY / BN44-00351B............ More commonly referred to as BN44-00351B by the board manufacturer (who is not Samsung but "DONG Yang") as it is used in several brands and models of TVs. Yours was made in 2010

If you know what you're doing, with a minimum of measurements, you could check important points on the board... The voltages to be obtained on the pins of the connectors are printed on the board.

You should find 350v DC at the terminals of the 2 large black capacitors

After that, it distributes in the board and powers the different circuits of the TV...??

But I want to make sure that it really comes from the power supply board.

I've already tested the backlighting and the rest of the TV, but apparently it's not from there!

I'm going to test all of that!

Just a little info, when I plug the TV into the mains, it takes about 10 seconds for the red LED to appear... just in case that helps with the diagnosis.

That the LED takes a long time to come on seems normal to me... It usually takes 2 to 3 seconds... 10 seconds is a bit long... But that might mean there’s a defect as well, we should check the manual... it should be available online... Because this LED should turn green 3 to 4 seconds after powering on..??

I’m leaning towards this option... The red LED indicates an error because not all conditions are met... There must be some kind of checklist at startup.

All the voltages seem fine according to you.. It’s very possible...but that’s not enough; there are also logical signal exchanges between the different boards in the TV... There’s a dialogue and at least one of them must be having an issue.

The certainty that it's indeed the power supply board is always the question that arises..?? It's a clever one who can assert that every time... But statistically, it’s the power supply unit that fails in 80% of cases... It’s either that or do nothing. And eventually, you could sell your board on leboncoin...!

You could also check if there aren’t any broken traces on the printed circuit board or in the ribbons or the contacts of the connectors that may have flashed with the overvoltage.
