Wifi Epson Stylus SX235W

Hello,

I currently have an Epson Stylus SX235W printer that I've had for quite some time, but I've never managed to get the Wi-Fi working. After scouring many forums, manuals, and the Epson website, I'm reaching out to ask for help.

For your information:
The printer is installed on my main PC (which runs Windows 8) and was also installed on my old one running Windows 7, and I couldn't activate the Wi-Fi either. I am using a Freebox.

I've installed my printer on my laptop, which works fine with a cable, but I want to get it to work via Wi-Fi. When the software on my PC searches for the printer, it doesn't detect it. My printer won't flash green and stays orange, so I can't find the issue...

I suspect it's a matter of settings, but I can't find anything. The manual doesn't mention anything... Printer sharing is enabled on my PC, but I no longer know where to look.

I'm really starting to lose hope, lol. So if anyone has a CLEAR explanation to give me, or if I need to install something additional on one of my PCs? Considering I've already reinstalled it, my Wi-Fi connection is good since I connect with other devices, and I've browsed many forums, here I am...

Thank you.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 21.0

    Hello,

If your SX235W is flashing orange, it means it cannot connect to the WIFI network, which is primarily your router.

For Freeboxes, I don't know, but for Neufboxes, you can access their interface by entering the address 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of a web browser. If it's not 192.168.1.1, it will be 192.168.0.1 or another IP address marked on your Freebox or in the Freebox documentation.

    In general:

For your printer to connect, you need either the SSID and the key (WIFI password of the router: it is written on the Neufbox, otherwise check its documentation), or to activate WPS on your router. Of course, the WIFI must be activated on your router, and you shouldn't be using a neighbor's WIFI!

You need to unplug the USB cable from your printer and go into the settings, network section. Enter the SSID of your WIFI network and the key. Normally, that should be all you need. Unless you have enabled MAC filtering on the router. If that's the case, disable it.

You restart the printer and it should connect to the WIFI network. Normally (at least for the Neufbox), it will appear in the list of connected devices.

For the specific case of your SX235W, the previous settings are not available, according to the EPSON documentation https://support.epson-europe.com/onlineguides/fr/sx235_nwg/html/p05.htm

So you will go through WPS (once activated on your router).
On your router, press the WPS push-button (the WIFI button for the Neufbox) or, in the absence of a button on the Freebox, click on the setting utility button accessible in your web browser at the address 192.168.1.1. Then, hold down the WIFI button on the printer for three seconds.

WAIT a few minutes while the indicators are blinking.

If both network status indicators are lit and stable, it means that the Wi-Fi setup is complete. The orange network status indicator will turn off after five minutes.

Your printer is now connected via WIFI to your router. Your Freebox will serve as a router and is the central point of your network.

Next, you just need to add your SX235W to each computer on your network and install the corresponding drivers for each of the different operating systems on your home network.

With explanations like these, if you don't get it working, you're doing it on purpose!! :-) !!!!

    Your turn now.

    Best regards.

I went to the Free support site, and I saw their documentation and explanations. No wonder you can't figure it out!!!!

But at this address https://www.free.fr/assistance/2319.html, you can request the intervention of a traveling technician. Given the clarity of their documentation and explanations, they are the only ones who can help you!!!

      Best regards.

You uninstall all your existing Epson drivers and any Epson programs, take your original installation CD and follow the instructions step by step, disconnect your computer from the Internet otherwise Windows Update will block the installation of the printer drivers. When you finish installing your box’s data, enter a fixed IP address for your printer in the available panel... At the end of the installation, your printer should be detected by the box via Wi-Fi. PS: I’ve never been able to connect my printer using the WPS function!
