Hello,
The folder where I store files (.doc, .xls, .pdf, etc.) on my iPod (which I also use as an external hard drive) has been converted into a Unix executable file, and I can no longer open it from my Mac.
How did this happen? How can I recover my files?
Thank you for your valuable help
Configuration: Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3) / Chrome 27.0.1453.110

Hello,
try this:
Select one of these "unix files", and do cmd I on it to read the information concerning it. Do you see a suffix attached to its name?
If so, delete it.. and see what happens..

Hello,
Yes. You should never remove a USB key without ejecting it first.
The files or folders may be corrupted. The Mac does not recognize the folder and thinks it is dealing with a source file. (.src = source file, meaning a program file).
You can try to repair the USB key with Disk Utility, but I have little hope...
