Hello,
First of all, I want to point out that I am missing the essential information, I don’t know the identity of my current graphics card.
I think the answer is in the system information tab, but then I don't know where to look.
Just know that I recently installed an Nvidia GeForce 8600 driver (I think it was something like that) and that I was using the standard VGA driver (I also think so, I haven't checked).
This latest Nvidia installation being incompatible, I uninstalled it (it reinstalls itself every time the computer starts but is automatically disabled due to a malfunction).
Regarding my computer, it was a high-end computer, 8 years ago...
So I would like you to help me find the most suitable driver for my computer so I can play Diablo III again (yes, yes, it ran with the highest resolution before a factory reset).
Useful information (?) :
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Professional
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

Thank you for your patience and I hope the writing is clear.

It is an HP Pavilion Media Center dv9649ef that has an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS graphics card and originally runs on Vista.
Without the nVIDIA driver, Windows uses a "generic" driver which means the graphics card is recognized as "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter." But in this case, the "features" are limited, you can't play video games for example. -
To find the name of your graphics card:
Start menu >> Control Panel >> Device Manager >> Display adapters -
Hello,
You can try to detect your graphics card and display the list of compatible drivers on the website allthedrivers. -
Désolé, je ne peux pas accéder à des liens externes ou des contenus en ligne. Si vous avez un texte spécifique que vous souhaitez traduire, veuillez le fournir ici et je le traduirai pour vous.

Hi, tell me about your driver, where did you get it? Have you tried the website www.ma-config.com/fr? If not, go there, click on installation, download and install the module, then it will analyze your PC and suggest downloading the appropriate driver. If you have already done that, let me know.

Hello,
"HP Pavilion dv9500 Notebook PC"
--> Look under the battery and give us the exact model. -
Thank you for all your very quick responses
To Rapi-shiny ==> I know my graphic driver but not the graphics card itself; moreover, I would like to avoid all installations (plug-ins or executables) when it is possible to identify it via Windows (it seems to me)
To Seputa ==> I currently do not have the graphics card tab as I just re-deleted the Nvidia GeForce driver (and this tab indicates the driver and not the card installed in the computer). Otherwise, the one that automatically installs from my manipulation is Nvidia GeForce 8600 (or something like that). Before my manipulation, it was the standard VGA, I believe.
To Master Flex ==> I had downloaded my driver from the Nvidia website (the one recommended by Windows troubleshooting). I tried the maconfig.com website (a site discovered on other topics in this forum) but I will do it as a last resort; I prefer not to use any executable programs to download.
To destrio ==> I am not sure what you are asking me, but I have this label: HP Pavilion dv9500 s/n: c nf7401wyp p/n: kc193ea#abf dv9649ef-

In solution for "finding drivers" on the maconfig site, I have storage, network, multimedia.
In multimedia I have

That's exactly it, Destrio. Thank you for clarifying all of this in my mind!
Otherwise, why did the Nvidia driver recommended by Windows crash my computer?
Some additional information: I downloaded, installed, and without configuring the Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS driver (I don't know how to configure it), I started my game. At first glance, everything seemed fine, then the computer crashed (blue screen indicating that the computer was going to restart to prevent damage) when I entered an area (in the game) that likely required more resources than usual (presence of important details).
Following that, I updated my driver but the compatibility probably wasn't good anymore, the blue screen appeared at the computer startup (before accessing the desktop)
I started the computer in safe mode, disabled the Nvidia driver, went back to "normal" mode, and uninstalled everything.
I restart the computer, and the Nvidia driver automatically re-installs itself while being activated but non-functional (due to a malfunction).
So for me, the driver is the right one, but how can I resolve this malfunction caused by the update? -
Indeed, I remember that controversy; many computers like mine (and therefore containing this graphics card) had the "black screen" issue. The manufacturer reacted by offering free maintenance for this computer. It seems that the repair was carried out by my father, though, so I have no idea what the situation is.

I will try this driver from the last link and let you know.
Thanks."
The driver from the last link is not compatible (compatibility check: this graphics driver found no compatible graphics hardware)
I will try with the first link." -
In Device Manager, right-click on the graphics card, choose "Properties" then "Details".
Click on the dropdown menu, select "Hardware Ids".
Post the information (example: PCI\VEN_1969&DEV_1026&SUBSYS_82261043&REV_B0).
Copy only the first line, that's enough. -
---> Download and install 7-Zip:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/2197-7-zip/
---> Right-click on the file "320.18-notebook-win8-win7-32bit-international-whql", select "7-Zip" and then "Extract to "320.18-notebook-win8-win7-32bit-international-whql\". You will obtain a folder named "320.18-notebook-win8-win7-32bit-international-whql".
---> Open Device Manager.
---> Right-click on the graphics card and select "Update Driver...".
---> Select "Browse my computer for driver software".
---> Click on "Browse" and choose the folder "Display.Driver" located in "320.18-notebook-win8-win7-32bit-international-whql".
---> Click on "Next". -
Right-click on the file "320.18-notebook-win8-win7-32bit-international-whql"

After that, I restarted the computer but no noticeable change regarding the driver.
version 9.18.13.1100
PCI identification number: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0425&SUBSYS_30CC103C&REV_A1
which is the same number. -
Nothing to do... I can't reinstall the NVIDIA driver proposed by Windows as it was originally.
-
Well, I managed to reinstall the driver that worked for Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS version 8.17.11.9562 and PCI ID N° PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0425&SUBSYS_30CC103C&REV_A1
The problem is as follows: when I restart the computer, I can't get to the desktop. The computer restarts and I have to go back to the previous restore point. Any solution? -
I think your graphics card is faulty.
