How to check the firmware version of a PS3?

Hello,

I recently put my PS3 up for sale and a potential buyer asked me what its firmware version was. Not knowing what firmware was, I searched but I still don't know how to find its version.
If someone knowledgeable could help me, I would be very grateful!

    if you were playing online and it is up to date then it is 4.31
