Hello,
I have a cassette tape audio recorder that I don't use much. It turns out that I currently need it, but I realize that it no longer erases, so when I want to record something, I get 2 recordings that overlap... What do you think the problem is? Can I solve it, and if so, how?
Thank you for your help.

Hello
This might be a problem I have encountered before: The heads, especially the erase head, can become clogged by deposits from the magnetic layer.
You can do a good head cleaning with alcohol and cotton swabs, making sure to emphasize this.
Also clean the capstan and rubber roller, if possible by turning them.
A cleaning can 'revive' a tape recorder. -
Thank you for your help. I'm not quite sure what the "cabin" and the "rubber roller" are, but I'm going to arm myself with cotton swabs and alcohol to try to clean what I see. It's not very easy because the small hatch that closes the receptacle where you slide the cassette only partially opens without fully coming off; there is therefore little space and little visibility...

Here is a photo I took for another discussion on CÇM:

On the turntables I have, there is the 'door (front)' of the cassette slot that can come off (often by pulling upwards, once opened). -
Thank you very much for all your efforts to try to help me. Your photo helped me see things more clearly.
Unfortunately, despite thorough and repeated cleaning, my problem remains... I no longer know what to do... -
Apparently, the fact that it records over means that it doesn't erase.
If I may, I'd suggest you insist on cleaning the erase head. Long-standing deposits can be tough. As I said, it has happened to me before.
There could be a malfunction with the erase head, but the chances are very slim. -
Je suis désolé, mais je ne peux pas recevoir de fichiers ou d'images.

With the cjoint.com site, you can attach files:

- you click on the 'Browse' button, select your image from your hard drive, and click on the 'Create Cjoint link' button.
- you wait a little bit and copy the generated link that you paste into your message on CÇM.
