How to properly configure eMule for good downloads?

PTITE TUTO POUR MIEU COMPRENDRE EMULE : As everyone has noticed, edonkey has become much slower than before. If we continue like this, the death of the donkey is assured! Let's react while there's still time. - A LITTLE RECOGNITION AND ESPECIALLY SOME FEEDBACK!!! Sharers and uploaders are becoming less and less motivated to help the community simply because they receive little recognition for what they do. People no longer take the effort or give very little feedback. Uploader, not knowing the status of their sharing, no longer want to bother and take down their share, leading to incomplete files. One message of encouragement or thanks can only improve things. It motivates uploaders/sharers/teams to continue what they do. Lately, I've seen uploaders drop out one by one. Every day we lose our uploaders, and coincidentally, they're always very serious and active people who leave. If we continue like this, we will have nothing left but our eyes to cry! - TOO MUCH SHARING KILLS SHARING!!! If you share too many files at the same time, you won't be able to upload them at high speed since your bandwidth will be divided among all those files. Let's take the case of ADSL netissimo 1 with an upload speed of 10 kB/sec (the most common) You have 40 files shared, there will already be a lot of people in the queue and those people will struggle to find a spot in your upload. And if by chance they succeed, they will generally go at 0.6 kB/sec because the rest of your upload will be taken by all the other people. And at 0.6 kB/sec, even if there are 10 people uploading at the same time (which is a lot), the person will roughly receive at 10 kB/sec. And that’s a bit light for a 700 MB divx, don't you think? You also shouldn't download too many files at once, because everything that is downloaded is automatically shared. Even if you have nothing in your share directory (incoming), if there are 40 files being downloaded, that will make 40 files being shared and thus the issue mentioned above will recur… Anyway, if you put a lot of files in download, it wouldn't help since edonkey would hit its max connection and there would be plenty of "unasked" and it wouldn’t download… Put a maximum of 10 files in download at a time, that would already be a big step forward. An average of 10 files would be more than enough, I think, for good sharing. - DOING EXCLUSIVE (SPECIAL UP) UPLOADS FROM TIME TO TIME CAN'T HURT!!! The principle of the "special up" consists of sharing only one file at its maximum upload speed to significantly boost a share. To do this, you need to remove everything in the destination directory (incoming by default) except the file to share and have NO downloads in your download list. And set your maximum upload speed in the options to 0 (max) This will reserve all your bandwidth for that one file, and I can tell you that it significantly multiplies the upload speed. Doing this from time to time can only benefit the edonkey network. If you do a special up, remember to announce it beforehand and say which server you’re on to ensure that there will be people on it and not do it for nothing. Losing 24 hours compared to everything you’ve gained is nothing, so don't hesitate and revive this little mouse that is suffering a lot lately. WHAT IS THE QUEUE SCORE AND HOW IS IT CALCULATED? It’s a great feature of eMule that allows you to be more or less prioritized in queues. When you enter a queue, you start with a score of zero. This score will increase second by second based on an evaluation calculated as follows. The evaluation starts from a base of 200 This evaluation will be multiplied or divided according to several criteria and in a specific order: - Edonkey Bot User: *0.9 - LowID: *0.8 - Friend: *2.0 - Member of the sharing community (Community sharing): *2.0 - Advantage to files classified as high priority: (we’re talking about the priority given to files in the "Share" tab) Very Low: *0.2 Low: *0.5 Normal: *1.0 (that means it doesn't modify anything) High: *2.0 Very High: *10.0 (Interceptor and VQB = *5) - Advantage to small files: from 00 to 1 MB: *100 to *10.0 from 1 to 10 MB: *10.0 to *2.0 from 10 to 100 MB: *2.0 to *1.1 No multiplier above 100 MB - Advantage to rare files: More complicated to explain as it depends on the value attributed to that file. If it is Very Low or Highest, the result will not be the same. But broadly, it often varies between *1.0 and *2.0..) - Upload limit: Apparently a multiplier would be taken into account based on your upload limit setting... - Download/upload ratio: Finally, this evaluation number will be multiplied by your download/upload ratio with those you have already exchanged. So for example, you are in HighID with a ratio of "1.2", you want to download a file of 60 MB from someone who has placed this file in high priority. Your evaluation number will thus be 200*2*1.4*1.2 = 672 In the end, this evaluation number is divided by 100 and the result will be your increase in score per second. For example, an evaluation of 600 will give an increase in score of 6 points per second. The higher your score, the more priority you will have in the queue. Conclusion: It is therefore important not to be on lowID and to share as much as possible. It is advantageous to be part of the friends list of other users as well as their sharing community and to have already sent some MB to the users from whom you will download in turn.

Hi, I'm with Numericable and there's nothing special to download faster. Just if you have a router, you need to open the ports. Then, as I said earlier, it depends on so many things. Take one or more recent tutorials, read around to understand how Mule works and you'll know how to configure it well. But don't touch what you don't know, take a simple version like 0.49a (no morph) to have fewer options to configure. Then, I repeat, read all the topics you find and gather all that. There you go!

Hi, I have a small problem with eMule. When my ports were not configured and I was on low ID, I was downloading each file at 10 to 40 KB/s. Now that I've set my ports and I'm on high ID, I'm downloading between 1 and 8 KB/s...!!!!

Where is the problem?
