Record my piano via MIDI/USB cable on Audacity

Hello,
I bought a digital keyboard whose brand I can't remember (I don't have it in front of me right now) and I really want to record myself. For that, I saw on a forum that I needed a 2 jacks/Mini jack cable. I went to a music store and asked them for this cable. The salesperson, an expert in digital keyboards, recommended a midi/usb cable that I could use to record on Audacity. When I got home, I connected my keyboard to my PC via this cable, and I set up the Audacity peripherals like this:
[Interface] Host: MME.
[Playback] Device: Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output
[Recording] Device: Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input
Channels: 2 stereo

The salesperson also said that I needed to restart my PC before using Audacity.
I did everything, but I can't manage to record! Please, does anyone have a solution to suggest? I would love to record :S (I'm 12 years old, so I'd appreciate any free ideas if possible, thanks :) )

    This seller seems to be a SUPER-specialist. He just forgot that Audacity is software for recording Audio, and therefore the MIDI/USB cable is made for MIDI.

    So either you record with this cable in MIDI but with another software, like LMMS, Anvil Studio, Quartz AudioMaster, etc., which are free and available on this site under the 'Download' tab.

    Or you record in Audio with Audacity, but you'll need an Audio connection (as you mentioned 'Jacks/mini-jacks...').
    But at that point, you would need to provide the model of your digital keyboard to see what type of cable you actually need and avoid fumbling around.

    MIDI is not a sound per se, but data that must be recalled and played back with a synth, or the synth of the PC sound card, or with a VSTi.
