Vectorize a PDF file

Question

Hello,

I created barcode labels using the Code39 font that I saved in PDF format, but Illustrator is unable to vectorize them as it does not recognize the font even though it is already installed on the computer.

I have the information in Acrobat ""TTE25E3118t00".

Could someone tell me why?

Fonts that change name in PDFs to become TT125xxx are character fonts reencoded by the PS driver when they are originally TrueType during the creation of the PDF. Some vector drawing software can utilize them, but this is not the case with Illustrator even in CS6...

To vectorize the fonts in a PDF, you can do it from Acrobat "Pro": Menu "Advanced Options / Print / Flattening Preview"
In the window, check "vectorize all text" then "Apply".

There are other options with third-party software.

Hello,

I don't understand what you want to do. Why vectorize a barcode?

When I create an EAN barcode, I enter the numbers of my ISBN, barcode X creates the barcode for me and I save it as .eps or .tiff. And that's it.
Then I import it into InDesign (mostly) and I create a PDF of my document.
But not of my barcode.

I didn't understand very well either,

Because I created labels in Excel that I then converted to PDF with code39 and the corresponding barcode number

However, when I sent the PDF file to the printer who works on Illustrator MAC, he told me that he couldn't vectorize the PDF and then asked me to send him the code39 font, but that didn't work either

So either the font39.ttf is not compatible with MAC or it needs to be vectorized.

That's the one I use.

Now it all depends on the number of barcodes in your PDF... And normally the code39 should work on Mac, from what I've read.

And that still doesn't explain why he wants to import the PDF into Illustrator... Can't you ask him?

I don't have Acrobat Pro :( otherwise it would have solved the problem for me.

Apparently, it needs to vectorize the PDF for its cutting software, and it couldn't do it with Illustrator because the font doesn't appear, unfortunately.

Otherwise, I have 6 PDF files with 20 labels per page.

For your software Sarahmoon, my labels are already created in PDF, and they just need to be cut. Otherwise, I can't manage to download it.

As for Acrobat Pro, why don't you download the free trial version for a month? It would allow you to solve your problem...

If you have Illustrator, you can vectorize when creating your PDF for printing.

To do this, create a small square on your page with a 1% transparency (it will be invisible). In the print window: under "advanced" options, select a "preset style" that you have previously created from the "Edit / Flatten Transparency Presets" menu, in which you have requested text vectorization.

The system vectorizes the text on the page where the transparency is located (just like in InDesign), and this also applies to imported objects.

Vectorizing in Illustrator isn't hard... It's knowing how to handle PDFs that's more delicate...!

Based on your file, I would say that it needs to print and cut around each small label following the black outline to create a sheet....

What is the source software?... Excel?

Yes, it's an EXCEL file, but normally it's fine; the printer managed it.
