IPhone 3GS: Charging is not supported with this accessory?

Hello,

I have a big problem with my iPhone 3GS: for some time now, when I plug it in, it displays the message "Charging is not supported with this accessory," and stops charging. At first, the message appeared occasionally, but now it shows up every time and I can no longer plug in my phone. The battery is dead and I'm afraid of losing all my photos/contacts/messages, etc. Could you please help me? I tried cleaning the iPhone port in case the problem was a loose connection, but it didn’t work… Any ideas?
Thank you in advance,
Best regards.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 14.0.1

    Good evening,
It's coming from your charger and/or cable.
    Aren't they the official ones?

For everyone who has this problem today, I have very effective solutions: - update the device if it is old enough. - (best solution) plug in the cable and when the message appears, turn off the device... now the device is charging, you can wait a good while before turning it back on and checking.

Hi, I tried all the suggested tips, but unfortunately, they didn't work. However, I followed the steps in this link and the first suggestion gave good results:

A quick summary for those who don't want to read: keep the cable plugged into the PC and the iPhone, restart your iPhone, and it will work :)

Just turn your device off and on again! (While still connected to the computer)

Confronted with the same problem, I had noticed that the rare times when the charging worked (about 1 out of 10), it always stopped when the phone went into "locked" mode (after 1 minute of inactivity).
Therefore, I disabled the "Auto Lock" (=> "Never") on my iPhone 3GS via the General menu, and charging is working normally again (for a while, I hope).
I hope this tip works for others!

Ask friends who own an iPhone to lend you a charger.

    Otherwise

You mean the ones that came with the iPhone? I think so, but I'm not sure; I bought my phone on Leboncoin...

Yes, try to find some official ones and see if it comes from there.

Well, I have the same problem and it's not the cable or the sockets.

Hi there, I also have the same problem, but when I asked my cousin to lend me her cable, the problem was resolved. So try changing the cable too; it worked for me!

I'm the same way, with any device and charger (we have 6 in the family with 9 different cables), and with all of them, it shows me this message and I don't know what to do anymore!

I've tried everything too, but it changes nothing. What does that mean? That my phone will shut down forever and I'll have to buy another one?

You need to cut the cable in half and connect the black with the black and the green with the green and the red with the red, but the white one needs to be cut and you should connect the two greens with the two reds, and there you go, it works well for me, I'm not joking, you can try it ;) :)
