Eye in password bar

Following an IE 10 update, I also encountered this. It's an icon that you press and it displays the letters of your password on the screen, which are usually represented by circles or stars.

I think it was designed so that a person typing their password, who may have lost track of where they are, can quickly reveal the beginning of the password they are writing and finish it correctly... that's the only benefit I see... which is still very limited (unless you have a password that's 3 kilometers long...). If you type the title of this topic in English into a well-known search engine, there's a method to remove this application that is indicated.
