Hello, I'm reaching out because I recently acquired Focal PS165 speakers, and the seller didn't inform me that these are powered speakers...
The problem is that I don't know much about this, I've tried to understand but I just can't figure it out...
If someone has the time to explain to me step by step how to install them or guide me to a detailed tutorial, I would be very grateful.
Thank you.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 16.0

Yes, it's not very complicated, but I have to install them; I need to take apart my door to hide my box.
If I don't connect the boxes, will I experience a loss of power or quality?
Knowing that I don't have an amplifier.

how to connect a lot of work? Here’s how it works:

HP> cable + and - > speaker box (it should say woofer out)
tweeter > cable + and - > speaker box (it should say tweeter out)

speaker box (it should say IN > cable - and + > on the car radio

if you didn’t understand, take a look at this diagram: http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/4782/branchementkitpassif2vowe1.png

Hi, your speakers can be connected to a car radio or amplifiers. What's the model of your car radio?
    Check out this diagramhttp://www.google.fr/...

I think I've understood how to connect them, nothing too complicated actually..
One last question, do I need an amplifier for these speakers?
Or is my head unit pre-amplified?

No, you don't need an amp; it will work on your car radio, but ideally, of course, you should add an amp, as you'll gain in quality and power.

But if I don’t use an amplifier, do I still need to connect the two boxes provided with the speakers or in the end do I not need them?
Because it’s a lot of work to connect these boxes.

No, you won't lose power, but the sound will be of slightly lower quality. If you connect your speaker directly to your car radio, it will output low frequencies, mid frequencies, and high frequencies.

If you use the filter, it will do its job of filtering out the low frequencies and mid frequencies for the speaker. Then, the filter will direct the high frequencies to the tweeter.
