Disk reading impossible!!

Question

Hello everyone

My son's PSP is no longer working; it powers on without any issue, but the message: "Disk reading impossible"
appears as soon as I insert a UMD.
Can anyone shed light on the nature of the problem?
Of course, it's no longer under warranty!!!

Hi, I had the same problem last night: I simply solved the issue by going to system settings > restore default settings. Restart.
Everything resets (including desktop themes, wallpapers) but the system software version updates as soon as you reinsert the memory card (which I had removed just in case). After that, you'll need to put back the wallpapers etc...
And there you go, now it works.
Still, I didn't understand where the problem came from in the first place...

clean the eye of your PSP with a cotton swab, and if that doesn’t work go to a specialized store with your PSP like Micromania or Logiciel Land

or if it still doesn't work, set your wallpaper on the computer with a cable specifically for that, it's the same as for the cameras, and set it as default settings.

Euh, I'm bringing back the post because I have the same problem except that I have the PSP2000 with this damn new motherboard and I tried to get my PSP to read an ISO with a friend's SD or the one that is cracked and now it gives me a disk reading error and it starts the UMDs only after 30 or 40 tries, it requires patience... Should I touch the lens with a chamois leather or should I send it in for warranty?

S'il vous plaît aidez-moi. Quand je mets mon disque UMD, ça salit ma PSP, mais il n'y a que le fond d'écran et quand je l'enlève, les options apparaissent. Comment fait-on pour que la PSP remarche ? Des personnes me disent de replacer la lentille, mais je n'y comprends rien à tout ça. Quelqu'un pourrait-il m'aider en m'expliquant dix fois mieux, s'il vous plaît ? J'en ai vraiment besoin.

Hello everyone, I had the same issue as most of you. In reality, the problem comes from the UMD drive which has suffered a heavy impact. The way to get it back up and running is either to replace the drive or to hit the PSP (on the drive side) forcefully against a flat surface. Be careful, this method has a one in two chance of permanently damaging it. There you go.

I had swapped the battery with my brother's, and after about a month, it said "disk reading impossible." So I put the batteries back in the correct PSPs, and it worked again.

Otherwise, remove the battery for 10 to 15 minutes.

I had the same problem "Disk reading impossible". I inserted the game and right after without trying to read it, the PSP showed me this message. A slap on the back and it works.  Great... Thank you
