Hello, I'm Meo. I had the same problem.
Thanks to SnakeForce for coming up with his solution to recover 2 years of graphic work, all the photos of my son from when he was 1 year old, including his birth photos.
All the PSD files of my creations, a big thank you and a big shoutout to clarify that I have a small LaCie 250 GB and this method also works for this model, just in case anyone asks. I confirm it works perfectly.

Hello, I had the same problem and I rebooted my computer on the external HDD and Windows checked the disk and now it works, phew!
A thousand thanks to those who take the time to explain things to us and save us from situations that are (for me) vital professionally.
A great example of social cohesion since we're told that we lack it so much...

Hello,
I'm reaching out to Snake Force, which I believe has helped many people, but the problem with me is that I'm really terrible with computers: I started, executed, then cmd and when I type chkdsk/fg that I then replaced with letters that seemed to me to be letters from the name of my drive (which I believe is the name of my external memory), it doesn't work. So the question arises, what is the drive in question?
I have 3 years of undeveloped photos on this disk and it's my entire life...... I believe there is no word to describe the distress I'm in right now
Thank you again

Hello,
Another victim of the computer world saved; during a power cut, my external drive crashed. Thanks to the good old DOS method,
chkdsk/f g:, I recovered all my beloved files. Thanks again, SnakeForce.
I will quickly back them up in duplicate on DVDs.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, etc...

Start
Execute
cmd
chkdsk /F G: (replace G: with the letter of your drive)
you click on the Windows key, then start and follow the title bar run
another solution is start + all programs + accessories + command prompt ms dos, you type chkdsk /f D: (replace D with the hard drive that won't open)
make sure there's a space between CHKDSK /F and between /F and D: and then hit enter
you then click on enter
good luck with karter2007 morocco

Hello,
I ran the checkdisk/f command and everything went well: the errors seem to have been fixed.
But since then, I can't find the drive even with "This PC/manage."
Any solution?
Thank you.

Hello,
I have a problem with this command prompt and I'm looking for a solution here...
I had an issue with my WD 500GB external hard drive. The CHKDSK /F command allows me to repair the files; however, during the recovery of the damaged files, the process stops due to a lack of space!
Can anyone tell me how to copy an external hard drive that we can't access - "I have the error message - Error during a paging operation" - to another hard drive with a larger capacity in order to potentially recover the data? Some of it is unimportant, but others are not. The issue also lies in the fact that I can't access it using DOS - "I could have at least made space by deleting worthless files."
Hoping to hear solutions from you
Thank you
