Hello,
Today, when I tried to connect to the internet, what a joy to see that my ethernet connection was no longer working! The last time I used my PC was Friday night and everything was working perfectly. I would lean more towards thinking that my ethernet card has burned out, but a few signs make me think otherwise. When I turn on my PC, the ethernet port lights up normally (green LED + flashing orange LED) but during the OS loading, it deactivates and no longer allows me to have a wired connection. Furthermore, the card is still recognized in the device manager and Windows indicates that it is functioning properly (the problem is that the device shows that no cable is connected). I have already done some troubleshooting but nothing has changed!
Troubleshooting performed:
- Unplugging and replugging the cable numerous times in various situations (at startup, after booting)
- Uninstalling drivers, reinstalling updates, etc.
- Checking the status of the components (ethernet socket in perfect condition)
- Checking the status of the cable used (works perfectly on my console and on another PC)
- Checking the status of the component in the BIOS (the hardware is well identified)
As a gamer, it's quite inconvenient to play with very unstable Wi-Fi (connection drops every 30 seconds).
Thank you for your help.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 22.0.1229.94

Good evening,
on the computer that is not connecting, click on Start => Run => type CMD
a window will open, type ipconfig /all
Note, there is a space between the g and /
check if you have a valid IP address like 192.168.1.20

The command does not lead to anything (ipconfig is not recognized as an internal command, etc....)

re
when you did your ipconfig /all, and if the ethernet cable was plugged in, it shows on your screenshot "media disconnected"
so either the card is not recognized in the device manager, or the port on your box or router has a problem.
in the bios, do you have this properly.

try doing a system restore to a date prior to the problem.
windows 7

The card is properly recognized in the device manager: https://www.casimages.com/i/121105110405279225.png.html
I will check the BIOS and attempt a system restore, and I will keep you updated. -
Restoration complete and no change. There's still something that intrigues me, Why does the card work when the PC is powered on, but suddenly cut off as soon as Windows is loaded?
-
It's true that it's quite intriguing, the problem may come from the box. Have you tried resetting the box?
-
I have restarted the box several times and tested each port, but there are no changes.
-
I will try to boot on Linux to see if the problem might come from Windows.
-
Same problem when I boot on Linux, the Ethernet port disconnects as soon as the operating system is launched.

Good evening,
disable your network card in the Device Manager, then purchase a PCI or PCI Express Ethernet card depending on the available ports on your motherboard.

It's hard to understand, I leave my PC on pause over the weekend, I come back and my ethernet port is working again. Problem solved!
